I’m sure you see this girl on my blog quite a bit. She is a dear friend of mine and also photographer, so we find ourselves trading shoots all the time. She is having a sweet baby boy in the coming weeks and we had to get together to take some photos before Julian’s arrival. I love the freshness that came out of this shoot.
Wow what a lovely year it has been. I feel so blessed to have experienced so many wonderful life moments with my clients. I value each and every one of you and the money, time, effort and value you place into my business. From weddings to babies to births, 2014 has been full of so many tears and smiles. I have gathered some of those special moments from this year and compiled them into this one blog post. Happy New Year’s Eve and I can’t wait to make many more memories with you all next year!
You may have seen Paisley’s home birth up on the blog. It was a beautiful experience to be a part of my first home birth. This sweet girl did so well during her mini newborn shoot. I normally have to spend two hours (or more) to get the photos that the clients want but this girl just kept on snoozing. If you can’t tell already, I am in love with the details of a little baby. Their hands, feet, rolls, etc. Life is amazing. Welcome sweet Paisley.
I recently shot my first home birth. It was a beautiful experience being able to see life brought into the world in the comfort of one’s home. Amy texted me early that morning and said, “Today is the day”. I started packing my things and asked her when I should arrive. She told me she would text me when I should come over and that it would probably be in the afternoon. Good thing, because I was 9 weeks pregnant at the time and not feeling so hot. I rested on the couch the entire day, waiting in anticipation for my phone to go off and for me to head to their house. In the early evening I finally got a text and jumped in the car. It’s a good thing she texted me when she did because she had that beautiful baby only 30 minutes after I arrived. The entire experience was amazing to witness, especially as I am considering doing a home birth myself. Amy was doing awesome and talking in-between contractions. Her doula was there by her side the entire time and her kiddos were either on the stairs or up in the playroom with their Grandma. At some point Amy’s husband Lon grabbed some honey and gave her some to give her that extra boost to push through the delivery. Amy was a rockstar and whatever I write cannot do her birth story justice. I hope the pictures do. Welcome Paisley!
My dear friend Janelle asked me to do some Christmas photos this year, but the day we scheduled pictures was a VERY cold day. We snapped a few photos outside and then I suggested the boys make hot chocolate and I could just document their family time. It turned out to be an adorable session. Jack kept eating the powdered chocolate before we actually made the hot chocolate, so when it was time to drink hot chocolate, Russ drew the bad straw and ended up with hot marshmallow water. His face was priceless. It really makes my heart happy to capture the “simple” moments in life, because that is usually where a lot of memories are made.
