I honestly don’t even know where to begin with this beautiful birth story. I do believe the photographs will speak for themselves. Natalie labored for a long 26 hours yet had a smile on her face and a positive attitude the entire time. We laughed a lot, especially after a nurse said that laughing causes more contractions. There were several brave women next door who labored naturally and at one point Natalie exclaimed, “They sound like dinosaurs!”. We all laughed quite a bit over that statement and I assured her that those noises were normal (at least I hope so because I had a natural labor and was VERY loud). The nurses, midwives, and doctors at Vanderbilt were simply amazing. Phillip did amazing in helping Natalie through her labor and initiated a dance party to keep her spirits up (and to get the baby to come on out). When Amelie came into the world, Natalie kissed her sweet little cheek. As soon as Natalie quit kissing Amelie, she would cry and Natalie would kiss her cheek again. This had everyone in the room crying from the utter sweetness.

I could write on and on about the sweet and cherishable moments from the day, but I will let you enjoy the story yourself. Please take your time as you scroll through these photos. I hope you enjoy the story of Amelie Mercy Bernier coming into the world.

Every year, my family goes to a local farm to pick blueberries. We really stock up and use them throughout the year in smoothies, pancakes, cobblers, etc. My favorite is putting frozen blueberries in a bowl of cereal. YUM! It’s a lovely tradition that I look forward to each year. Now I really want some cereal…

What is summer without being a butterfly in the butterfly garden? Claire, who is now 3, melted my heart as she freely twirled and danced and played in the local butterly garden. Within the short hour that we spent together, she became Elsa from frozen, played in her castle, and dressed up as a butterly fairy (in hopes to call out all the butterflies of course). The wonder and innocence of a child is such a treasure to behold. Here’s to year three, precious butterly fairy!

The other day I had an album order arrive for one of my Brides. You should have seen me as I carefully opened up the box. Seeing the photographs on a professionally printed matboard or leatherbound signature album is just…breathtaking. Now, if I am as giddy as a child on Christmas day when I open up a finished product, then I KNOW my clients are beyond themselves. To be honest, I have a hard time sending off the product to clients because I just REALLY love looking and revisiting the photos that I took. There is something special about prints, photo albums, etc. I really can’t stress enough how valuable photography product is. When clients rave about the pictures on their walls or the albums on their coffee table, it just makes my day.

These are my precious friends, Natalie and Phillip. Their daughter, Olivette, is the same age as my little boy, Micah. In just a few weeks, sweet baby Amalie will make her big debut into this world. Phillip is a musician, so we had to incorporate that into the shoot. We had a great time on a beautiful evening capturing some sweet moments as their family of three, soon to be family of four…
