Yesterday, my husband and I received some bad news that left us feeling devastated, defeated and downright sad. It was a rough day, to say the least. I knew I had a shoot with this sweet girl and was actually looking forward to getting out of the house and channeling my emotions into a beautifully styled shoot. Sweet Claire had so much fun pretending to be Elsa from the movie “Frozen”. The long piece flowing from her headpiece was her long braid (like Elsa). The tent behind her was her castle. And you know what? I had fun playing make-believe with this sweet girl too! Sometimes all you need is a little make-believe time.
I’m going to do my best not to cry as I blog about this wedding. My photographer friend Myrick Cowart was initially Jenny and Tyler’s photographer but tragically passed away a few months ago. It was a shock for everyone. Jenny and Tyler had to find a new photographer and they chose me. The honor and emotion I felt about their decision was enormous. Well, then I got to know Tyler and Jenny a little bit and I felt even MORE honored to shoot their wedding! This couple and their family is just phenomenal. Tyler and Jenny didn’t see each other before the wedding and when Jenny walked down the aisle, Tyler started crying. Oh. my. goodness. He had me crying! Do you know how hard it is to cry and take pictures at the same time? It’s pretty hard. By the end of the day, I felt like I had known them a long time. I felt like family. Congratulations Tyler and Jenny!

Guess what?! This is my VERY first blog post on my new website that I have spent a whopping THREE WEEKS to build. In this process I have found out that I am not as computer savvy as I thought. Building a website is not as easy as you may think it is. In fact, I’d suggest to hire a website developer. I didn’t because I am stubborn and if I am presented with something that is really challenging, I get this crazy burning passion inside of me to accept that challenge and finish strong. And look at me, I got my website up and running all by myself and by golly I think it looks pretty good! There are some minor tweakings that need to be done but overall I am loving it!
Since I am a photographer and my blog posts on this site will contain pictures, I had my lovely friend Pam with Wynd & Paisley Co take some pictures of me. It’s really nice to have a photographer friend who will take your picture and let you edit them however you wish. So, I threw on a maternity dress that I typically use for clients and headed to Pam’s house for a shoot. No, I’m not pregnant. But its a cute dress right? You know I’m not the only one who occasionally wears maternity clothes for style or comfort reasons. Ok…maybe I am, but I don’t care.
